After a successful first month of training, we are taking a well-deserved day off on Monday October 9 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Back again and training hard Thursday, October 12 – see you there!
With only a few more days of summer vacation left, we’re gearing up for the Fall training session!
Our first training night of the 2017/2018 season is Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Spitzee School gymnasium in High River, from 7PM to 9PM.
If you’re new to the club, new to the sport, or just want to find out more, you can drop by and say hello at a regular training session, or contact Sensei Robert Robinson for more details.
Our final training session of the season on May 18, 2017 saw club members from both the High River and Vulcan Tekka clubs in attendance for a great end to the 2016/2017 season!
After a grueling 2 hour grading by senior Sankaku association black belts, Alison Niven earned her Shodan (First Level) Black Belt – a huge congratulations and job well done Alison, you definitely earned it!
Travis will be competing in the Karate Alberta tournament coming up the first weekend in June in Calgary – Good Luck Travis!
We are now off for the summer, and will resume training in September – more updates to follow later in August.

High River Karate Club and Vulcan’s Tekka Karate club members – final day of 2016/2017 training season.
Congratulations to everyone who competed at the Seiwa Kai Goodwill Invitational Kata Tournament at Mother Mary Greene School in Calgary this Sunday!
High River Karate Club, Tekka Karate Club, and Seiwa-Kai Karate Club members competed in this friendly kata-only tournament. A great job and lots of hard work from all competitors!
Congratulations to Travis & Gillian from High River. Travis won first place in individual kata in his division, and took second place in the tournament finals!

Classes resume Monday, March 13 2017 in High River at the Spitzee School gymnasium.
School programming was completed earlier than planned, and the gym is now free for training.
Congratulations to all the students who graded in Vulcan on Thursday night! Two white belts, and ten orange belts made the leap to Yellow and Green, respectively; including Travis from High River!
We are now training hard for the tournament in Calgary this coming Sunday, March 19, 2017.
VULCAN REMINDER:
High River Karate Club members are asked to attend the Tekka Karate Club in Vulcan, AB for classes from February 27 – March 16, 2017 as Spitzee School gymnasium is set up for a school activity.
Vulcan classes run from 7 – 8:30PM in the gymnasium at the Prairie View Elementary School (504 – 4 Avenue South, Vulcan, AB). Members of the High River Club can meet to carpool at 6PM at the Hitchin Post in High River.
SEIWA KAI GOODWILL KARATE INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
A friendly competition to practice performing your kata in front of a group. This tournament will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Mother Mary Greene School (115 Edenwold Dr. NW, Calgary, AB) from 10AM – 3:30PM.
Entry fee is $30 per participant, checks payable to Tasaki Kai Karate. Forms must be returned to Sensei Robert no later than March 9, 2017.
No training this holiday Monday, February 20th for the Family Day holiday.
We will be back training hard on Thursday, February 23rd at Spitzee School from 7-9PM.
We are busy getting ready for grading soon, so don’t forget to practice at home!
