No Karate Until Jan 4, 2021

As everyone is now likely aware, we will not be able to continue in-person training for the next few weeks due to rising Covid-19 cases and Alberta Health Services restrictions on in-person group fitness classes.

We would normally shut down in the middle of December for the Christmas break anyway, so we are hoping that we will be able to start training again tentatively on Monday, JANUARY 4th, 2021.

Please check back regularly – this tentative start date depends on AHS restrictions.

Stay safe, and have a great holiday! Keep training and see you in the New Year!

Nov 23 Class Cancelled

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, and to protect the health of our club members, we are cancelling our Nov 23,2020 class to allow a 2 week re-set. Please note that the duration of the restrictions on in-person classes may be extended due to Provincial health requirements. We will be in contact with club members to update you on class schedules and when we will resume (tentatively Monday November 30th). Stay Safe and keep training!

Nov 2, 2020 – High River Training

After a relatively successful start training with the Vulcan Tekka Karate Club, High River Karate Club members can resume training in High River on Monday, November 2nd, 2020.

Location – Sheppard Family Park Munroe Barn – 1201 5 Street SE, High River, Alberta

Classes will start with training ONE day per week only, Monday nights, from 7PM – 8:30PM

Covid-19 protocols must be followed, similar to school and other facilities. If you are not able to comply with our requirements, you may be asked to leave. There are currently no spectators (including family members) allowed in the facility during classes. For the safety of everyone in the class, if you feel sick you must NOT come to class. Karate Alberta, which we are affiliated with, requires a Covid-19 waiver to be signed off as well prior to participating in classes. We will be maintaining physical distancing during class, which means warm-up, basics and kata only, no kumite (sparring).

Classes will be $30/month, running 7-8:30PM Monday nights only at the Sheppard Family Park Munroe Barn. Please contact Sensei Robert directly for more information.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Update on Return to Training

Hello Everyone!

We know you’ve been patiently waiting for news on return to training, and this is a brief update on progress at this point…

We are unable to use Spitzee School gymnasium this year, so location is yet to be confirmed. We will also be delaying start of training sessions until October 2020 for the High River Karate Club, official date TBD as well.

In the meantime, the Vulcan Tekka Karate Club is waiting for confirmation on location for training, planned to start in September. We will share locations/times when they become available, and hope that some of the High River Karate Club members are able to make it to Vulcan for training until we start up again in High River in October.

Classes Cancelled Until Further Notice

Training sessions for the High River Karate Club have been cancelled until further notice due to closure of all Town of High River facilities and the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

To all our students and senpai’s – please keep yourselves and your loved ones safe.  You never know when your karate skills may come in handy, so continue to practice if you can, and we hope to see everyone when classes resume, likely in September 2020.

Congratulations to everyone who was able to participate in the Seiwakai Good Will Invitational Kata tournament this past weekend in Calgary – great work from everyone who attended! If anyone has photos from the event that they would like to have posted, please forward them to Sensei Robert and we will work on getting them put up here!

Location Changes, Tournament

The Seiwakai Karate Club Goodwill tournament in Calgary is still a go tomorrow morning – good luck to all participants! Registration is at 9:30AM at St. Joan of Arc school.

Due to Covid-19, the Foothills School Division has cancelled all before/after school use of the Spitzee School gym until further notice.

Class is cancelled for Monday, March 16th.

Classes will resume at 7PM on Thursday, March 19th at the Munroe Barn at Sheppard Family Park in High River. We will be training at the barn until further notice. Thank you for your understanding.
