NO KARATE – March 2 & 5, 2020

Please note – due to theater productions happening in Vulcan at the Prairie View Elementary School, the classes on March 2 & 5 which were originally planned to be re-located to Vulcan due to set-up for a program at Spitzee School, will now be cancelled.

No classes in either High River or Vulcan on March 2 & 5, 2020.

Classes will resume March 9th and 12th in Vulcan, and March 16th in High River.

Reminder that the Kata Tournament in Calgary is taking place on Sunday, March 15th. If you plan to attend, please let Sensei Robert know as soon as possible.

Family Day Holiday and Updates and Location Changes in March 2020

TOURNAMENT – SUNDAY, MARCH 15:

February is almost half-way over already, and we are busy training for the upcoming Seiwa Kai Invitational Kata Tournament. The Tournament location will be confirmed shortly (in Calgary), and will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2020. Stay tuned for further updates on this in the weeks to come…

HOLIDAY MONDAY – FEBRUARY 17:

There will be NO karate at Spitzee School on Monday, February 17, for the Family Day holiday!

TRAINING IN VULCAN – FIRST 2 WEEKS OF MARCH:

During the first two weeks of March, Spitzee School Gym will be set up for Mission Impossible, and we will be training in Vulcan with the Tekka Karate Club. The Tekka Karate Club meets from 7:00PM to 8:30PM on Monday and Thursday nights at the Prairie View Elementary School in Vulcan, AB. Affected dates (at this time) are:

Monday, March 2 – Thursday, March 5 – Monday, March 9 – Thursday, March 12

March will be a busy and exciting month for the club – train hard and have fun!

 

 

Class Location – December

There will be no class at Spitzee School gymnasium from December 2nd through December 12th due to set up for the school Christmas concerts.

Classes on December 2, 5, 9, and 12th will be held at the Sheppard Family Park Munroe Barn, located at 1201 5 Street SE, in High River.

Stay tuned for more updates on the rest of the month, and time off for the Christmas holidays, and see you at the park next week!

Schedule Updates – November 2019

There will be no class in High River on Thursday, November 7. Classes are still running in Vulcan on this day, at the Prairie View Elementary School from 7:00PM to 8:30PM. If you would like to come train with us there, and you need a ride, please contact Sensei Robert to arrange a carpool.

We will have class on Remembrance Day evening at our normal scheduled time. Please join us if you are able to – we know many of you have other commitments related to the day off and special events of the day.

The annual Kata Tournament in Calgary is scheduled for March 15, 2020! Save the Date!

Thanksgiving Schedule Changes

Two upcoming schedule changes to be aware of:

Thursday, October 10, 2019 – the Sptizee gym will be set up for a Thanksgiving Dance, so class this night is moved to Vulcan. If you need a ride, please let Robert know ASAP and we will arrange a carpool.

Monday, October 14, 2019 – Thanksgiving! No class this night for the holiday.

We will be back training in the Spitzee School Gym on Thursday, October 17.

Karate in September!

*CORRECTION! This post originally stated training nights were Monday and Friday – training nights are Monday and THURSDAY nights! Apologies for any confusion this may have caused*

The High River Karate Club welcomes back returning Karate students and new members this fall!

Our first night back training at the dojo is MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2019 from 7-9 PM at Spitzee School Gymnasium in High River. The club meets regularly every Monday and Thursday nights from 7-9 PM at this location.

Come on out and have some fun, learn new skills and get moving!

 

 

 

End of the 2018/2019 Season

At our final class of the season on Monday, May 27, Alexis powered through her test and achieved her orange belt. Congratulations Alexis –  you did a great job on only a few hours of sleep!

Everyone else had a great time doing basics, sparring, and working with the punching bag. Our new members this year have made great progress in the last few months – we are looking forward to seeing everyone again when we start our new season in September.

Summer Break!

Well, the season is almost over for the High River Karate Club this year – our last class this season is Monday, May 27, 2019.

Thank you to everyone who has worked really hard this year so far – you’ve all made great progress, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the fall after a well-deserved break!

We hope to see everyone back in and around the second week in September (date to be confirmed and will be announced later in August).
