Upcoming Tournament and important schedule information

Students from the High River Karate and Vulcan Tekka Karate Clubs will be attending the Seiwakai Goodwill Invitational Tournament again this year. The tournament runs Sunday, March 20, 2019 from 9AM to approximately 2:30PM at St. Joan of Arc School – 7970 Wentworth Drive SW, Calgary, AB.

This is a fun tournament – kata only, no kumite (sparring). It is a chance to meet other karate ka (students) in both shotokan and goju-ryu style karate, and test your skill in a relaxed environment where it is “just for fun”!

A copy of the Registration Form including Waiver for the tournament is available at the following link. Sensei will also have copies of the form available to complete at our next class on February 21, 2019.

Christmas Wagon Ride

On Monday, December 10, 2018 we will be celebrating the season with what is becoming an annual tradition for the club – Senpai Serge will be bringing his team of horses and wagon into town to take students and their parents/family members on a Christmas Light tour around High River. There will be NO training at the school this day.

Remember to bring your warm winter clothing (hats, mitts, scarves, snowpants and winter jacket) and a hot drink if you’d like. We will be singing carols and admiring the many light displays set-up in town!

Seiwakai Tournament March 18, 2018

High River Karate Club and Vulcan’s Tekka Karate Club members (several pictured above) competed in the annual Seiwakai Kata Tournament in Calgary on March 18, 2018.

Click HERE for a super awesome video showing Alexis doing a near-perfect Heian Shodan, blind-folded, during the finals!

Congratulations to all who competed – it takes a lot of guts to perform a kata in front of a group of spectators and other competitors – everyone did very well!

We are back training in the Spitzee School Gym this week – come join us for a training session or pop in to say hello – new members always welcome!

Alexis
Congratulations Alexis on winning Gold in your division!

Please Note – we are still training during the Easter Week – come one, come all.
