Sensei Gillian Hurst is a Nidan (2nd Degree) Black Belt. She has been training with the club since 2011, and prior to that had trained with karate clubs in Red Deer, AB for 3 years and had achieved her Brown Belt before moving back to High River and successfully testing for Shodan (1st Degree) black belt in May 2015.
Sensei Gillian achieved Nidan (2nd Degree) black belt in January 2022, and was actively instructing classes when Sensei Robert was teaching in Vulcan.
Sensei Gillian and Sensei Travis took over teaching and running the club when Sensei Robert passed away unexpectedly in February of 2025.
Sensei Gillian was promoted to Sandan (3rd Degree) black belt in May 2025.
